Who You Help

Port Cares is a home-grown registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of South Niagara children and families living in poverty. For more than 30 years, Port Cares has supported our most vulnerable by providing essentials of daily living – food, housing, crisis intervention as well as education and training. Port Cares has relied on the proceeds of fundraising events to sustain these much-needed services. However, in the face of the current pandemic, we must now find alternate ways to fund our work so that we can continue to make a difference for families struggling to overcome hardship. Rules

Port Colborne Community Association for Resources Extension (Port Cares) Rules of Play for 50/50 Electronic Raffle:
  1. The lottery will take place online only during August 11, 2020 to July 11, 2021. The lotteries will be quarterly and the location will be 92 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, ON, L3K 3E1. Draw 1 is August 11, 2020 - September 10, 2020 and has Early Bird prizes drawn August 13th at 6pm for a $100 gift card for Tender Cuts Quality Meats, August 20th at 6pm for a $100 gift card for Sobeys and August 27th at 6pm for a $100 gift card for No Frills. Draw 2 is December 2, 2020 to January 10, 2021. Draw 3 is February 10, 2021 April 10, 2021 and Draw 4 is May 10, 2021 - July 11, 2021. All ticket sales will start at 9am on the first day and stop at 6pm on the last day. The draw will take place at 6pm on the final day of ticket sales.
  2. All tickets will only be sold to people who are 18 years of age or older.
  3. Must be in the province of Ontario at the time of purchase.
  4. Tickets are $10, $20 and $40.
  5. Tickets can be purchased either online with a credit card at www.portcares5050.ca or with cash in-person at Port Cares, 92 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, ON, L3K 3E1 between 8:30am – 4:30pm.
  6. Tickets will be sold using electronic raffle system supplied by Ascend Fundraising Solutions.
  7. After buying, patrons will receive a confirmation e-mailed with their 50/50 registered numbers from a Random Selection System. No specific numbers can be given as numbers are generated randomly.
  8. The winning ticket number will be selected by a Random Number Generation (RNG) system from all raffle numbers sold for the draw.
  9. The amount of the 50/50 will be updated and can be monitored at www.portcares5050.ca, as well as through Port Cares’ social media pages and via radio commercials on 89.1FM and 91.7FM.
  10. The winning number will be announced on the website www.portcares5050.ca, on Port Cares’ social media (Facebook and Twitter) and via radio announcements on 91.7FM and 89.1FM.
  11. The winner may claim their prize by contacting Port Cares at: (905) 834-3629, or by email at: 5050draw@portcares.ca. The ticket may then be brought to Port Cares, 92 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, ON, L3K 3E1 at an agreed upon time for ticket verification. The winner will then be paid by cheque for the amount posted at the event for which they bought their ticket. Winners must have the original winning ticket and no copies. All payments will be made by cheque.
  12. The winning ticket holder has 6 months in which to claim their prize from the date of the draw their ticket was purchase for.
  13. The winner must provide his/her name, address, and phone number with picture identification for our report sheet.
  14. >Once the certified winner is verified, and provides identification with photo ID, they will be given a cheque in the amount of the declared prize which is, at minimum, 50% of the total sales for that draw. If the winner cannot provide photo ID, then the winning proceeds will be held until such identification can be provided.
  15. In the event that no winner comes forward, the winning stub will be kept in a safety deposit box and held for 6 months. After that time period has elapsed the prize will be donated to a charity other than Port Cares, with the approval of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
  16. The following individuals are not eligible to participate in the 50/50 draws: No person directly involved in or responsible for the conduct of the lottery event or involved in the sale of raffle tickets participates in the game which he or she is assisting to conduct. Paid Port Cares staff members and members of the Port Cares board of directors are not eligible to purchase tickets. No person under the age of 18 to participate in any way as a player in any lottery event.
